I volunteered to bake for a charity bake sale at work tomorrow so most of today was spent covered in chocolate & flour and eating most my ingredients. I decided to make a Kit Kat and Malteaser cake that I saw online a few months ago. As you would expect, this required a lot of tasty ingredients!
Usually when I bake a chocolate cake I just use the Betty Crocker cake mixes, but I figured that since this is a bake-off that this may be cheating! I had a look online and found a chocolate fudge cake recipe from the BBC website. When I mixed the ingredients I really thought that I had messed this up! The batter was super watery and runny. Luckily it turned out ok!
Next I covered it in fudge icing from Betty Crocker and then it was time start the decorating!
I stuck KitKat bars around the outside of the cake, using the fudge icing as a glue to stick them to the cake. Here is a snap at the halfway point!
Once these were in place I poured Malteasers on top of the cake. After this I tied a ribbon around the cake to keep the bars in place and added a few Lindor sweets to match the ribbon! Et voila!!
